Red Cedar Recycling is a subsidiary of Medcorp, Inc.,
both of which are owned by the Modoc Tribe. Red
Cedar is directed by Wes Davis. The primary
functions of Red Cedar include collecting cardboard,
office paper, newsprint, and aluminum. Wes drives
a "paper route" daily and collects cardboard from local
vendors free of charge. This not only keeps the
cardboard out of the waste stream and landfills, but
cuts costs for business owners who would otherwise have
to pay for extra city dumpsters. Office white
paper and newsprint are collected only at red Cedar and
many people take advantage of this drop off location.
Red Cedar buys aluminum cans at the current market rate,
bales them, and re-sells them through a regional broker.
The paper products are also baled after being shredded,
and sold through brokers.
